Custom Tubes?

Posted by Burke on Monday, 18-Feb-2008
Hello, I am new to making my own but believe that I will be doing it for a long time. Do any of the tube manufacturers offer custom printing on their tubes. Wouldn't it be neet to have your own name on the tubes? Well just a thought. Burke

Just a thought, to save some money on the custom ordering. Have a custom made stamp made. Check out the office supply stores. You wold not have to stamp them all just the ones you would want to show people. And I hear you Dano. You have a good point about putting enough ink on the paper. It seems that way for a lot of tubes, must come from the same manufacturer. I'll give people smokes I warn them that I make my own since they probably never smoked one like that. I've had people think I order russian cigarettes from reading the Rizla, or middle eastern from the Giza. Yeah it would be nice to have tubes custom stamped but I'm sure it would cost more than I'm willing to spend. I have written on the tubes what type of tobacco it contains when I mix them up.

Well, I'm not so anal as to start stamping my tubes :) I agree with you 100% that most tubes sport a washed out / under printed logo. It seems to me that the people making these tubes really don't take pride in what they create. Vera Cruz tubes are a good example of this. Despite the fact that they are relatively good looking, if you look at them they all seem to have a crinkle at the junction at the end of the tipping paper. This is just cheap manufacturing.

I've heard people say, 'well, MYO tubes aren't the same as Pre-made tubes, so you have to expect certain deficiency's'. I think that's rubbish. If you look at the Rizla cig size tube, the logo jumps out at you. Rizla and Zig Zag both do a very good job at producing tubes with clear well printed logo's on them.

So the question becomes, why should MYO smokers expect shoddy products? Put Some Ink On The Paper! :)

make no mistake that other than the above posts started my mind, my only half-serious but serious enough true to post, comment:
I think I want LOGO=less tubes, just made by a trusted tube-source that I already like!!!
takes all kinds!!!

I'm with you mike! I don't give a rats ass about the logo on the tube or whether the filter is wrapped in white or 'cork' tipping paper. I'd be quite happy with logo-less tubes in unbleached paper, in fact I think I would prefer it.

But it takes all kinds and obviously these things mean a lot to some people.

I don't like smoking ink, save the logo for someone else. I like my tubes clean and my price points reasonable. My choice would be weak ink.
to each his own

I had to chuckle,
You're smoking down to the logo?
Save yourself a lot of burnt orange fingers and light another cig! :)

Look at how long the Vera Cruz Logo is, everyone smokes into the ink and past that Logo.

So true, but I don't think the Vera Cruz brand is burning up the market. I'm in the NYC area and smoke shops are like hookers, one on every corner and I've yet to see Vera Cruz tubes offered in any of them.

Most people choose a tube because it's completely neutral in taste and is well constructed with a filter size and texture that they prefer. Why be cheap with the ink? If you give a friend of yours one of your MYO's the first thing they will do is look at the logo. Looks matter and I don't think we should be paying for inferior products.

I'm not saying that the Logo is the most important part of a tube. I am saying that most of these companies could do a much better job in that respect.

sure, just contact Silver Foil at [link] but I doubt you'll be able to meet their minimum order requirement; "Furthermore, our relatively low minimum order quantity requirements (one 40-foot container per order) for our cigarette tubes make us even more versatile as a manufacturer. "

Interesting link. I noticed on their site that they mention 'state of the art manufacturing' and '3 Castles' tubes in the same sentence. Well if that's state of the art I would suggest they learn how to put some ink on the roller since the 3 Castles tubes logo is essentially... washed out... for the most part.

That's not to say the 3 Castles is or isn't a good tube, it's just an observation on PI manufacturing.
