Ultra Light Tubes * 100 mm * Where?

Posted by Jeffo on Friday, 18-Jan-2008
I've been looking to purchase some ultra-light 100mm tubes for a friend of mine. Can anyone tell me where to get them? I've been looking and can't seem to find anyone who sells them.

I never heard if any such animal. It sounds awful. :)
If you can't find one, all you have to do is use a light 100mm tube and inject it tight. (use a chamber full in your injector for a full, tight stuff job)
be careful you don't "Over Stuff" and break something. I've stuffed too tight for a long time (without wanting too) and didn't break anything, it shouldn't require much effort to stuff a tight one.
Slightly over stuffing a tube makes it a really light smoke, so over stuffing a light tube should be obscenely light.
For a freakish and obscenely light smoke do that stuff technique to Ramback Balkan tobacco from D&R, they don't come much lighter than that. :)

I don't smoke 100mm anymore, but if you find a light 100 with filter perfs, they'll be close enough to an ultra-light. Check Dave's tubes section.

If not, help your friend make some sort of device where they could make their own perfs. I've seen such a device someplace.... Just can't remember where. It could perf a number of tubes at the same time.

I cant remember the name of the gizmo Wazmo is referring to, but they sell them in pharmacies as a cessation device. You can do a pack at a time and even choose your level of lightness.

I agree with Wazmo and KL, a snugly packed tube with filter perforations will be an ultra-light. Odds are that if the light kings have filter perforations the 100's will. Zig-Zag was the first to come to mind but I know that at one point neither the kings or 100's had perforated filters. Gambler and TOP are a couple of other possibilities.

I'm not a big fan of filter perforations, there are 2 Light 100mm tubes I would consider to be nearly Ultra-Light since they use extremely long filters. I'm talking about the Zen and Turbo-matic 100mm Light tubes, as far as I can tell (not sure about the Turbo-matic) both are manufactured by St Vincent/Silverfoil for HBI and use a High Density 25mm filter element.
Haven't seen the Turbo-matic tubes online but your local smoke-shops might carry them, the Zen ES 100mm Light tubes ($3/250ct) are available at LBSS [link]

The 25mm filtered Zen 100's and Silver Tip Extras are a tad lighter than my everyday 22mm Rizla cig size, none of them are as light as perforated filter tubes.

I wasn't aware that the Rizla cig size tube had a 22mm filter. I'm making this response because I've found, in general, that 22mm filters aren't to my taste, yet I find the Rizla cig size tube to be essentially the same as a FF tube, taste wise. By that I mean the CS tastes essentially the same to me as the Rizla Deluxe.

Is Rizla using a different kind of filter as opposed to say the new Vera Cruz black tubes and others with a 22mm filter?

Hey Dano + worthy souls
I think the difference here lies in diameter.....especially noticible on the new mini-thins, or whatever they are
I agree about the 22 mm on standard tubes, little much.....
BUT, you may be onto something with a constructional difference, and ol' Dave would have to be the one to answer there.....: )

I agree that filter length doesn't make as big a difference as one might expect and that the St Vincent (e.g. Vera Cruz) tubes do taste a bit different.
