I've heard so much about Ramback I had to order a can and all the comments I've read about it were accurate. It's very mild when inhaled with little or no taste or feel until you exhale. It doesn't burn hot and the smell is less aromatic than halfzwares. I use to smoke camel filters and occasionally I would have some that had what I considered a "skunky smell,"which must have been caused by a higher percentage of turkish tobacco,or turkish flavoring in the stick. Next order, I'm going to try a can of Ramback Gold as Ramback must be predominately used when blending your own mix.

Been enjoying lots of different tobacco's lately as some of you know I've just started the MYO thing (very rewarding!), and thought I'd try something Turkish. I don't see too many comments on Turkish here and thought I'd bring up the subject for you all to comment on. I see Buglar says it's a Turkish Blend. Would this be a good one to try as a good example? Or could you suggest something? How would you characterize the Turkish taste? Many Thanks and Best Wishes to all!

The Turkish taste is distinctive yet subtle...its not cloying and I don't think I would call it rich but it is full bodied, smooth, sweet and flavorful. Its been years since I've smoked Ramback and my memory of that is a cigar-like quality (not so subtle/mild). Turkish tobaccos I've tried:
* Bali Turkish (NLA) - Good, mild, very fine cut Turkish/Virginia blend (pouches only).
* Bugler (blue) - While the Turkish taste is there, the Burley dominates.
* PS Turkish Export - Another nice Turkish/Virginia blend though some cans seem smoother/better than others. Medium cut, 10.6oz cans only.
* Ramback - The only 100% Turkish blend, a bit too strong/weird for me. Medium fine cut.
* Turkish Special - Though the Turkish isn't noticeable I think its what makes this one of the tastier American style blends. Medium cut.

The pouch is a yellow background with blue bugler logo. Looks like the lighter yellow strands are the turkish and you can taste the turkish in it. A mild and mild tasting tobacco. Enough taste to satisfy, barely. I smoked it in an el rey full flavor tube and it had a little bit of a papery taste to it. While its better than bugler plain, it would be far from a first choice for me. I second the Ramback Gold recommendation, excellent tobacco.

PLEASE stay away from from that nasty burned out bugler, try Ramback Gold---You'll fall in love.

Back in '68 I was gifted a couple of packs of Turkish cigs from a friend who bought them in Israel. They were mild in strength but one of them would stink a whole house up. Boy were they good. sure wish i could find some of that today.
