D&R Store for Michigan

Smokey Mountain Tobacco is a retail/distributor based in lower central Michigan that will carry almost the whole D&R line of tobacco and accessories. Will also carry the full line of Peter Stokkebyes MYO tobacco, Commonwealths Bali Shag and McClintock. Prices will be very competitive.
Services will include but not be limited to :
- Tube Injection machine repair and tune ups while you wait.
- Custom blending of your choice, any number of blends
- All tobacco sold by the oz, any amount you like.
- Free Samples of any product are available to try before you buy.
- mail order services
Every customer (that wants one) will have an info card of blend information kept on file for consistency
The store will be open sometime in March. Stores like this are getting more and more common all the time.

I wish they were getting more common in Florida, but that's not the case. See if you can convince 'em the Sunshine State needs a couple dozen of their Fine Establishments. :-)

KL, that sounds like some insider information... are you associated with this new startup outfit? And since I'm in mid-michigan, and a big fan of D&R's tobaccos, I'm extremely interested in where they will be located as it sounds like a dream come true.

You mentioned Tobacco Outfitters a couple weeks ago and I meant to ask you about it then (but glad I didn't since Dave has since then pruned the OT comments from the SYO threads). I did some checking and there are apparently 3 stores by that name in the state? One in Big Rapids (which I'm pretty sure sells alot of D&R tobacco) another in Rockford, and the 3rd in Muskegon. I plan on checking them out eventually, but I'm hoping this "Smokey Mountain Tobacco" outfit will be closer to Lansing.

Yes, I'm glad you asked. The Smokey Mountain Tobacco Store is way closer to Lansing. it is owned by me and a friend of mine and it is just off I96 on M66 north a few miles toward Ionia,MI.

I live in Portland,MI. I used to do all my tobacco shopping in Lansing at the Smoke House on Ceder st. or the Tobacco king (same owner) by frandor and Smoker's Oasis on Saginaw St.
The Tobacco Outfitters carries a very slim line of the D&Rs offerings, 3 non menthol, 2 menthol and 1 medium and they would not order anything for me that they don't already carry from D&R.
I planned on carrying almost all the offerings unless some wont sell very well like maybe the Sigaro and Sigaretta cigar blends for the MYO format or whatever, but who knows, they all might sell great. Do you know where I'm talking about ? half way to G.R. on 96 is M66.

I'll send you an e-flier on the store when I make one. I might have some questions about machine tweaking when the store gets cranking. I'll have a wireless router going making the place a hot spot for laptops. My friend want's to sell Whole bean coffees of all different nationalities too, they kind of go hand in hand.

Congrats, sorry to say we dont have anything like that in Md. W have cigar and pipe stores who carry PS and sometimes AS though, everything else is internet, for now at least.
