ROYALE AUTO ROLLER

Posted by mike c on Tuesday, 09-Oct-2007
Behold yet another "heads up"-- RYO/FAIRPRICE has just unveiled their own new Royale-AUTO ROLLER, and there are only 200 available initially, so if it's your cup of tea....there you go...it's introduced at $150.00, as opposed to a later $1.99
again, were I personally to go this route, I think they are who I go to more confidently......

Well, I plopped down my dollars for this mainly because I was irritated by the lack of fill at the filter end and tip end of my 100 mm tubes with the Supermatic. Upon initial inspection I was glad to see that the stuffing mechanism was not a cutting blade as shown in the video of the version shipped to the overseas market, but a metal corkscrew. The machine itself is nearly all metal with only the lid and catch tray being hard plastic. That is where the kudos end, unfortunately. While it does stuff right to the filter and tip of the tube, you are constantly taking off the lid to push the tobacco down to the screw. As for burn, the ember falls off at least three times per smoke. This can be quite dangerous while driving! I have tried as firm a pack as I can manage, even applying light pressure to the filter while it fills, all to no avail. I am now using it to put tobacco at the filter end and then switching over to my Supermatic to finish. If anyone has suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

Unfortunately I think the brutal bitter truth is that there is not a perfect solution for 100 mm's just yet
The new Magnum machine may be the best bet, but it looks like it still has a few things needing ironing out
Using a plastic cutter in your Supermatic (if not already doing so) or maybe trying the Top machine is likely the cheapest way for now, and with the Super in my opinion you will have tip voids and need to add some tobacco which I doubt you want to do, and it is just possible that someone will confirm the newest Top really honestly can make 100's FULL and TIGHT to the tip but I would have to use one myself to be sure of that, and lastly you could always be a real pioneer and look into this newest Quick Roller
I am terribly sorry you apparently didn't look on this site in time to see the machine(s)(like) the one you have has a falling ember problem
I realise what I have just written is confusing and not a lot of help but it's my take.....not a perfect way just yet   (someone may speak up and confirm the Topomatic's ability to do it and do it perfect every time)(I'm still skeptical myself, due to the tightness of pack I seem to require)

I can confirm a little of what Mike said. The magnum unfortunately doesnt make consistent 100mm without running through twice. What I mean by this is, there are times I can whip out 10 or 15 just perfect and then 10 or 15 with a 2-3 mm gap at the end. It does great making a stuff all the way from the filter out but on 100mm can leave that little gap.

Not really sure why except it might be the cuts of tobacco I am using and when the rod goes through it is actually has tobacco that sticks in the chamber around the rod. I think this because most of the time if i get a gap i can then just open and close the machine again without putting any more tobacco in and there is enough tobacco in the chamber to fill the smoke to the end.

With the magnum we dont get cherry drop or at least I havent in over 3000 smokes made so far. even if the tube was under filled and then run through again to top it off i havent had a cherry drop.

With the supermatic c model I can get pretty consistent 100's as I have been for months prior to the magnum and have been using the super to get rid of my 100mm tubes (I am switching back to king just to make life easier while using the magnum)

I would say a supermatic c model is probably the best 100mm machine I have used.

Interesting
and just to note: when he says supermatic "c" series, he most importantly means "with plastic cutter"
someone else elsewhere just confirmed the lack of filter end voids with the plastic cutter as well.....also, like a broken record, I didn't include that I don't dry tobacco where most do, so if you do, your 100's likely come out even better or just right,,,,since he just confirmed about the Magnum, it's the best we've got right now....

I wouldn't buy a machine or anything else from a distributor that unloaded the turdomatic on their customers, and they are the only ones that I can find that did that.
