Tobacco is not food. Freshness equals adequate moisture content and the best way to maintain it is with airtight containers. If your container is not 100% airtight, it will stay fresher at room temperature than in the fridge or freezer.

If you want to kill tobacco beetle infestations, the freezer will be faster than the fridge. If I ever get bugs in my tobacco I'll probably start leaving all my tobacco in the fridge for two weeks before using it.

I have no idea why one would want to freeze tobacco, however if you do I would suggest that you invest in a cyro-vac machine. You know, the machine that takes all the air out of the container. They are quite the rage in kitchens now a days and can be had for about $50 to $100.

The alternative is to put it in a big baggie, try to squeeze the air out,(which never works:), throw it in the freezer and come back a month later to a bunch of freezer burnt tobacco. I can't imagine that could be good.
